Thirty officials from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania over the weekend undertook a three-day Technical Swimming Officiating Clinic at Nairobi Academy.
The clinic, spearheaded by Kenya Aquatics and supported by the world governing body World Aquatics, was aimed at elevating the standards of officiating across regional aquatic sports.
The officials were under the overall leadership of World Aquatics Technical Swimming Committee member Max Kanyerezi, who recently officiated at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The participants included among others: Noel Kyunzi from the Tanzania Swimming Federation, Bandari Swimming Club head coach Farkry Mansoor, and Crawford International School coach Omar Omari.
The rigorous training clinic on the latest officiating rules concluded with a certification exam that required a pass mark of 80%.

The recent development by Kenya Aquatics goes a long way in enhancing the nation’s presence in the region and also globally.
At the same time, two leading figures at the federation - Dr. Maureen Owiti and Collins Marigiri - were elected as Secretary General and Committee Member of Africa Aquatics Zone 3 after a successful election process.
Their new roles are expected to bring further advancements in funding, scholarships, and the hosting of international meets across the region.
